5 brilliant brand moments that live rent-free in my creative brain (and why)
Lately, I’ve been in this season of slowing down to study.
After years of moving from project to project, I’ve realized how easy it is for us as creatives to lose our curiosity. To stop noticing the little details. To get so focused on delivering the work that we forget to fall in love with the craft of storytelling itself.
So I’ve been retraining my eyes, pausing when something makes me audibly say, “oh, this is GOOD”, asking myself why it hits, what it’s saying about culture, and how it’s making people feel.
Maybe it’s because I’ve been rethinking how I approach my own work. For years, I thought great creative meant big. Big budgets. Big sets. Big brands. But the truth? The best campaigns don’t always scream. Sometimes they whisper. They know who they’re talking to, and they say just enough to make us feel like we’re in on something special.
Here are five campaigns that are living rent-free in my head and the cultural shifts they’re tapping into that make them unforgettable.
💄 JT x MAC Cosmetics: https://lnkd.in/gsaV67ER
✨ What It Is:
MAC linked up with JT to give us a campaign that’s edgy, chic and so her.
✨ Why It Hits:
- The rollout feels expensive and taps into her alt-Black Girl aesthetic without watering her down.
- It’s serving Black beauty as luxury, and I’m eating it up.
✨ Hot Take:
This isn’t just a collab; it’s a reminder that Black women have been setting the beauty tone for decades. MAC let JT shine unapologetically as herself and that’s the real win.
🥭 Kylie Cosmetics, LLC Peach Mango Lip Butter https://lnkd.in/gkjPiQSJ
✨ What It Is: A campaign so juicy you can practically taste it.
✨ Why It Hits:
- Clean, close-up shots that make you want to lick the screen.
- Simple, snackable content that feels effortless but shareable.
✨ Hot Take:
Leans all the way into food-core beauty and the “soft girl” aesthetic Gen Z is obsessed with right now. It’s giving delicious without trying too hard.
🪮 SheaMoisture “Sheaversity” Campaign https://lnkd.in/gGhu3jRz
✨ What It Is: SheaMoisture turned hair care education into a full-on vibe with this playful, bright campaign.
✨ Why It Hits:
- Tying the collegiate concept to hair education? Genius. Edu-tainment done right.
- The visuals are giving nostalgia meets new school which is perfect for their audience.
✨ Hot Take:
Shea has always centered Black women, but this feels especially joyful and community-driven. A reminder that you can be fun and informative at the same time.
🥤 Amaya Papaya x poppi https://lnkd.in/gPMWPUhp
✨ What It Is: Poppi intentionally tapped into the phenomenon that is "Love Island USA" by showing support for this seasons "people's princess" Amaya Papaya and it worked.
✨ Why It Hits:
- The humor is unhinged in the best way.
- A perfect example of how to make the comment section a part of the campaign.
✨ Hot Take:
A+ understanding of internet culture. Poppi stays clocked in to what their consumers are into (outside of food and beverage) and curates a feed that speaks directly to them; not at them.
🧪 OLAPLEX x Jolie https://lnkd.in/gigUJCh3
✨ What It Is: A dreamy, skin-meets-hair crossover moment that’s clean & chic
✨ Why It Hits:
Feels like scrolling through an elevated Pinterest board.
Balances science-forward credibility with that effortless “cool girl” vibe.
✨ Hot Take:
Wellness is the new luxury, and this collab leans all the way into it.
Here’s the bigger truth:
The best campaigns don’t just sell, they create movements. They pull people in. They get screenshotted, moodboarded, memed, and talked about long after launch day.
At AMBZN Studios, that’s the kind of work we do.
We don’t just help brands stay relevant, we help them become the reference. Bold, culture-led, and unforgettable. If you’re ready to create campaigns that live rent-free in people’s heads (and hearts), let’s talk.
✨ Stay ambitious. Stay inspired. Stay building worlds that hit different.
